As all of you undoubtedly know I am a big collector of films, especially on the Blu-Ray format. There’s a wide array of companies that release Blu-Ray’s here in the UK from the big labels like Sony, Universal, E-One, Lionsgate, Studiocanal etc. And boutique labels like Arrow, 88 Films, Eureka, BFI, Indicator, Second Sight etc.
One company that gets alot of attention outside the boutique labels is Warner Bros Premium Collection which is exclusively available from HMV. They started early this year releasing Logan’s Run, Little Shop of Horrors, The Omega Man, The Shining (US Cut), Soylent Green, Them, All The Presidents Men, Diner, Forbidden Planet and Gremlins 2 The New Batch released in January and February of this year.
This month they have/are releasing Robin Hood, Jason and The Argonauts, The Mission and Excalibur. Then in April they are releasing Performance and The Hunger. I have to say they have been knocking films off my wishlist left, right and center.
For ages I hoped that Excalibur, Soylent Green, The Omega Man, Gremlins 2, Little Shop of Horrors, Diner and The Hunger would be released on Blu-Ray and now they are. I currently only have Diner in my collection and of course I would love to get many of the others. Some of them have more extras than others but personally I get the films because I really want to see the films on Blu-Ray the extras are a added bonus.
I am not sure what they have slated to be released in May or later this year but you can bet I am very excited about what they have in the pipeline.
