I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again. I absolutely love NECA’s Retro Line. I haven’t picked any up recently but I plan to pick up more real soon.
Recently it’s come to light, well to me anyway. That some of NECA’s Retro figures haven’t been selling that well like their Snake Plissken, George Taylor and their Videogame Freddy and Jason figures. In a few months time we’ll be getting Captain Spaulding from The House of 1000 Corpses, Chop Top and Leatherface from TCM2. Both of which are cult classic films.
Sid Haig has been acting in movies since the 60’s and Spaulding is his most iconic character and Bill Moseley is a modern horror icon who’s role as Chop Top was the breakthrough in his career. I personally hope that they sell very well as we’ll get some more awesome figures from Cult Films. The possibilities are endless.
One of the big things that I love about these figures are the artwork cards that are the back of the clamshells. They are awesome, the artwork by Jason Edmiston and Nathan Thomas Milliner are my favourites. They really are outstanding art pieces.
Can you imagine if NECA released retro The Warriors figures each figure had custom artwork for that character ? Herbert West from Re-Animator ? John Nada from They Live ? Detective Cameron from Night of The Creeps ? There’s loads of possibilities.
I hope that Spaulding and Chop Top sell well as then we could see many more slightly lesser known characters from cult films appearing in the line and can you imagine the beautiful pieces of artwork they would come with ? I can barely wait to see where this line goes next.
